Head Hunting

Double Oak

Kay was scouting locations yesterday and noted a large sale with some Bossons chalkware heads. We have a modest collection in the gallery and are always looking for an opportunity to add more. We both happened to be off work today and decided to confront the first day crowd at this sale.

We arrived about 20 minutes before the sale opened to a line. We got our place and waited. The proprietor come out with a pre-open speech indicating that everything from the upstairs had been crammed into the first floor. It was going to be tight quarters with densely packed artifacts.

We got in and tried to determine where the Bossons heads were going to be and almost walked past them. They were positioned at the front, near the checkout area. I darted in and got first pick of the heads just sliding in front of someone else making a beeline for them. We selected four that were in mint condition (some with original boxes and tags) and proceeded through the house. A fun house but not much else that we wanted. We picked up some nice waste bins for bathrooms and a kitschy apron. We may swing by tomorrow to see what is left.
